As a superfan of the World of Darkness games, I should have loved this novelette.

I was not impressed at all, unfortunately. The whole thing ended up feeling more like a set-up for the multiple sex-scenes, rather than a story that needed to be told. The premise was interesting, especially the theme of sacrifice for love, but it wasn’t explored satisfactorily, and got solved after a quick talk to someone else. The werewolves weren’t particularly interesting, nor was their background\setting, unfortunately, and I was sad to see that, once again, the concept of “pack” instead of being made by people, were just an amorphous blob of entities meant to side with whoever would make the story more dramatic.

The villains were forced into the story midway, and they were so hilariously bidimentional that I kinda started to like them, and I ended up wanting them to win in hopes that the story would have a different ending. I also kept hoping the main character died during her transformation not so much because I didn’t like her, but more because the story was being so boring, so predictable that I would have loved it if all my expectations were turned on their head.

Instead, I got exactly what I predicted, much to my pity.

The vampires seemed to be the characters the author liked best, and since they are, apparently, from another series of hers, I’m not surprised.

I’d give this one a pass.

Good girls don’t wear fur, or fight over men, and they certainly don’t run around naked, howling at the moon.

But then, no-one ever called Fallon a good girl.
As a human unofficially mated to an Alpha werewolf, Fallon is being pressured to “become”…or be gone.

Her mate Aiden, the interim leader of the Olde Town Pack, is in a position that demands he either choose a wolf mate…or leave the pack forever. No matter how hot the sex with Fallon is, he can’t ignore centuries of tradition.

Become a wolf or not. If only the choice were that simple. Fallon’s options are further clouded by the overt presence of other females desperate to be the Alpha’s mate. And when these bitches get serious, it’s not just claws that come out. If Fallon wants to keep her man and take the title she’ll have to exert a little dominance of her own.
